DOUG VOICE IS A WINNIPEG MUSICIAN WHO TOOK 7 YEARS OF CLASSICAL PIANO AND 3 YEARS OF THEORY AS A CHILD .AT THE AGE OF 9 HE PERFORMER AT CHURCH CONCERTS AND MUSIC RECITALS. HIS PIANO TEACHER SAID HE PLAYED WITH "FEELING "

WHEN THE "BEATLES" CAME OUT , HE STARTED PLAYING IN LOCAL BANDS IN WINNIPEG. ..AT 14 YEARS OF AGE ,. THE FIRST BAND HE WAS IN WAS CALLED "THE JAGGED EDGE ". HE CONTINUED TO PLAY IN MANY BANDS IN WINNIPEG FINALLY JOINING "CRAWFORD", A WINNIPEG BASED BAND WHO TRAVELED TO TORONTO,ONTARIO,CANADA.

WHILE IN TORONTO DOUG JOINED A RECORDING GROUP AND WAS ON A NATIONALLY RELEASED ALBUM RECORDED BY PRODUCER TERRY BROWN CALLED "THE ORANGE ALBUM". AFTER 2 ½ YEARS OF PERFORMING IN TORONTO. DOUG RETURNED HOME TO FORM HIS OWN GROUPS PLAYING ON THE WINNIPEG CIRCUIT. DOUG STARTED RECORDING HIS OWN SONGS IN WINNIPEG AND HAD SOME MILD SUCCESS WITH A SINGLE CALLED "BADSHOE"

WHILE TAKING THE BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION COURSE AT RED RIVER COMMUNITY COLLEGE , DOUG WAS A MANAGER /D.J AT THE RADIO STATION ON CAMPUS AND RECALLS THE MANY RECORDINGS THAT ARRIVED EACH DAY IN THE MAIL FOR THE STATION TO PLAY .

IN 1997 DOUG TOOK A RECORDING ENGINEER COURSE AT SUNSHINE STUDIOS IN WINNPEG AND RECEIVED A HIGH MARK OF 95 %  ..DOUG'S   INSTRUCTOR WAS BRANDON FRIESEN WHO IS NOW A  GRAMMY NOMINATED AND MULTI-JUNO AWARD WINNING MUSIC PRODUCER,AUDIO ENDINEER,MIXING ENINEER,TELEVISION PRODUCER. 

IN 1999 DOUG RECORDED AND PRODUCED 7 OF HIS SONGS ON A CD CALLED "WAIT" IN BEDSIDE STUDIOS IN WINNIPEG. THE SINGLE RELEASE WAS CALLED "PLAY COUNTRY " AND RECEIVED SOME AIRPLAY IN PORTAGE LA PRAIRIE. THE CD IS NOW AVAILABLE IN THE WINNIPEG PUBLIC LIBRARY.

GAINING MORE EXPERIENCE, IN 2004, DOUG RECORDED AND PRODUCED 15 OF HIS ORIGINAL SONGS ON A CD CALLED "GOODBYE CARRIAGE ROAD".. "EMILY" IS THE MOST DOWNLOADED SONG SO FAR..

IN OCT. 2007 DOUG CHANGED HIS LAST NAME TO DOUG VOICE ,NOT TO BE CONFUSED WITH THE MANY ‘SMITHS" OUT THERE AND RELEASED AN NEW CD OF 18 ORIGINALS SONGS CALLED "I’VE COME A LONG WAY ". IT’S A COLLECTION OF POP/ ROCK SONGS WITH A BLUES INFLUENCE. THE MOST DOWNLOADED SONGS SO FAR ARE "CHAINED" , "GUNFIGHTER" , "CRAZY ‘BOUT YOU " AND "SHE’S SO BEAUTIFUL" . 

IN FEBRUARY 2009 . HE RELEASED A CD CALLED “SINGER SONGWRITER” THAT INCLUDES 18 ORIGINAL SONGS WRITTEN AND RECORDED AT DOUG  VOICE STUDIOS. THE POPULAR SONGS SO FAR ARE “KATHY’S SHOPPING SONG”, “VERONICA”,  and “OH MY DARLING' 


             IN   JANUARY  2011, HE RELEASED AN ALBUM CALLED “YOU CAN’T RUSH ME “ WITH    18 OF HIS ORIGINAL SONGS .  THE  POPULAR  SONGS FROM  THAT  ALBUM SO  FAR  ARE "ROCK N ROLL CADILLAC" and "BIGGER YOU ARE  THE HARDER  THEY FALL "

             IN 2011 AS  WELL  DOUG VOICE RELEASED  AN INSTRUMENTAL  ALBUM CALLED "JUMPING  THROUGH  THE  WORLD " WITH 18 ORIGINAL INSTRUMENTALS.  A NUMBER OF  THE  GUITAR ORIENTATED TRACKS ARE BEING  DOWNLOADED BY FANS...  DOUG  CONTINUES  TO  WRITE MUSIC AND HOPES  TO  HAVE MANY  MORE SONGS  RELEASED ON  iTUNES , YOUTUBE , ETC

             IN 2012 HE RELEASED  A  DOUBLE ALBUM OF  INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC AS WELL. AND IN MARCH 2015 A  23  TRACK  ALBUM  CALLED "MUSICIAN".

AS A SONGWRITER, DOUG HAS BEEN A PAST MEMBER OF M.A.R.I.A. [MANITOBA AUDIO RECORDING INDUSTRY ] AND S.A.C. [ THE SONGWRITER’S ASSOCIATION OF CANADA ], AS WELL AS A PAST MEMBER OF N.S.A.I. [ NASHVILLE SONGWRITERS ASSOCIATION INTERNATIONAL]

AS A MUSICIAN, DOUG  WAS A MEMBER OF LOCAL 190 [MUSICIANS ASSOCIATION ] AND AS A SONGWRITER  IS A MEMBER OF S.O.C.A.N. [SOCIETY OF COMPOSERS AND AUTHORS ]  NUMBER 1012238

IN RECENT YEARS , HE HAS ATTENDED  A NUMBER OF JAZZ WORKSHOPS AT THE UNIVERSITY OF MANITOBA.. IN AUGUST 2006, HE HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO ATTEND  MANY JAZZ EVENTS AT THE LINCOLN CENTER IN NEW YORK CITY.

                DOUG WAS HIRED AS A  PIANIST FOR THE  OPENING OF LEO MOL GARDEN , PRINCE AND PRINCESS MICHAEL OF KENT ATTENDED.  PRINCESS ANN SPOKE TO DOUG AND COMPLIMENTED HIS PLAYING.

  1. as an "extra" in the movie "Shall We Dance", met Susan Sarandon and Richard Gere.
  2. played in a warm up band for Chubby Checker,Toronto 1975
  3. recorded with Guess Who drummer Garry Peterson at Century 21 studios in Winnipeg on a demo for Bill Cudny
  4. mixed an original single song in Maddox Studios, Winnipeg with Fred Turner and Tim Bachman
